When a person has a seizure, depending on the type of seizure they have, there is often a bit of amnesia. Memory loss. Because of that, I vaguely remember what happened when I had seizures as a kid. All I can go off of are stories told by my mom and family members who witnessed it. I can in fact tell you I’ve had 3 different forms of seizures.Through much research I’ve found 45 types. Could be more out there. Crazy right?!

As a child I experienced grand mal seizures. A grand mal seizure — also known as a tonic-clonic seizure — features a loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions. It’s the type of seizure most people picture when they think about seizures in general. More info on grand mal seizures . When these stopped I continued to have staring spells..daydreaming which is also linked to my epilepsy and that continued for 15 years. Now in 2013 my seizures returned this time as Temporal Lobe Seizures. Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) means that the seizures arise in the temporal lobe of the brain. Sometimes the seizure is so mild that I hardly notice.

In other cases, the person may be consumed with feelings of fear, pleasure, or unreality. A patient may also report an odd smell,  an old memory or familiar feeling, or a feeling that is impossible to describe.This is why the seizures can include a feeling of déjà vu, fear, or anxiety, and why some people with TLE may have problems with memory and depression. Check out www.mayoclinc.com for more info.
