Changing Focus to Epilepsy

Major decisions have been made in the last few months. When I decided to name my business “Changing Focus” I never knew it would hold so much weight. My focus has changed so much over the course of this year and it all has led me and is still leading me exactly where I want to be. Even more so where God wants me to be. I will explain that more later this month. Promise!!

November is epilepsy awareness month. I was diagnosed with epilepsy as a newborn. So for 27 years I have been having seizures, from falling out to my random staring spells. Many laugh, many make jokes when others have seizures but until you walked a mile, an inch in our shoes, you will never understand. This post is a basic introduction to Changing Focus:Epilepsy Edition. Decided to branch off my photography company (www.changing-focus.com).

What exactly is epilepsy? Epilepsy is a neurological condition, which affects the nervous system. Epilepsy is also known as a seizure disorder. It is usually diagnosed after a person has had at least two seizures (www.epilepsy.com). What is a Seizure? A seizure is a sudden surge of electrical activity in the brain that usually affects how a person feels or acts for a short time. Seizures are not a disease in themselves. Instead, they are a symptom of many different disorders that can affect the brain. Some seizures can hardly be noticed, while others are totally disabling (www.epilepsy.com).

This month I will discuss my journey, give facts, first aid and take you on a journey, my journey with epilepsy. I think it’s time I share my story. It may help someone else who may be too afraid to reach out. But my efforts will not stop when this month is over. It will continue as long as I can. I have so many great things planned!! Stay tuned!

Best!
Whitney
